I'm not the computer administrator and it won't let me download newer firefox, can I by-pass this?

I can download program alright and when I click run to get started, I'm told I can't add the program because I'm not the administrator registered on this computer. My son is the administrator and has tried to put in his password and get the 7.0 as my new program and he has not been able to make it work.
