Chosen solution

Shop at Home
EDIT#1-ADDED: I have just found reference to the ShopAtHome toolbar also named "Intelligent Shopping Toolbar"; look for that in Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and, if there, click to remove/un-install. Be sure Firefox is closed before doing the removal, if it is there

EDIT#2-ADDED: I have seen where there may be a file named SelectRebatesUninstall.exe on your computer in the location c:\program files\SelectRebates\. If you find it, click/double-click on the file and let me know the results.

Have you looked in C:\Program Files for a folder(s) named Shop at Home and/or Select Rebates and/or Intelligent Shopping Toolbar? If one (or both) is/are there, close Firefox (Firefox button > Exit OR File > Exit), open the folder and look for a file named uninstall.exe, and click/double-click on that uninstall.exe file. Let me know your results.

As I said, it is difficult to diagnose a problem at a distance. Let's keep trying to solve this.

It may be listed in the Add or Remove Programs list as "SelectRebates" or "ShopAtHome.com Toolbar". Did you look for both of those program names? Perform the removal with Firefox closed (Firefox button > Exit OR File > Exit).

Not related to your question, but...

You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:

"it did not work when i tried to go and remove the programs again"

For clarification:

  1. Are the 2 items listed on the Add or Remove Programs list?
  2. If so, you clicked "Remove" and what happened?
  3. Did you restart your computer after "Removing" the programs?

Any other details that you can supply about what is happening will help someone here help you. If you give incomplete or general information/details, then we must guess at what is happening on your system. It is very difficult to diagnose a problem and supply a solution without actually being in front of your computer to see what is happening or without more complete information/details.

the 2 items were not on the Add or Remove Programs List so there was no need for me to remove them. a few months ago the Shop At Home was on that list and i removed it. some how i must have pressed a wrong button again! if this wasn't so annoying it would not be so frustrating. i am not as familiar as i should be about Mozilla Firefox, but i want to use it. i like it better than internet explorer. i can take the toolbar off using the "view" from the menu bar at the top, but want to get rid of it permanently. also, what is an utter frustration now is that it is not only the tool bar itself but also at the top of every web page i go to is this offer at the top from this Shop At Home site thing that has appeared. i have to do away with this! i haven't tried what you said about the plug-ins. i am not all that computer knowledgable, as you can tell, but i will try - it scars me though. i don't want to do something that will not be easily fixed. also, can you tell me how to delete bookmarks. this is probably easy, but if you could advise me on this, i would appreciate it. i can't tell you how much i appreciate your help!
