Firefox will not play Youtube videos

Recently I have not been able to play YouTube videos with my Firefox browser.

Whenever I start the video I get a black screen that says "An error has occurred. Please try again later.

This occurs when I am on the youtube.com site and when youtube videos are posted on social sites such as facebook and linkedin.

I have cleared my cache but that has not fixed the problem.

Please help as I have had to open chrome to play any youtube videos that I want to watch.

Also I am able to play all other video formats such as vimeo.
