tab groups close unexpectedly and cannot be restored in FF5

I use Windows 7 64-bit. After upgrading to FF5 and loving it for the Tab Groups features, two groups of tabs simply disappeared today. First, I made the mistake of clicking in the clear space on a group instead of on a tab in the group and the whole group closed with no "undo" button. I moved the groups around in Panorama to see if I had somehow hidden it under another group, and after moving the groups, one more tab group simply disappeared. Still no undo button.

The tabs are not in my Recently Closed Tabs history. Yes, I save my history--every tab I've closed individually is in there, but the missing groups are just gone.

What am I doing wrong, and how do I fix it? I'm going to have to restore to sessionrestore.bak (I'm a writer and I keep my markets in one of those missing groups--it's better to lose today's new markets than all of them), but I really want to know how to keep this from happening again.
