Check for Update forced an update without user consent

I was running FireFox 401. I clicked on check for update and it started downloading FireFox 5 without my consent.

I closed FireFox midway but on restarting it, the download resumed and I was forced to upgrade to 5.

This is annoying considering the fact that I have "Ask me what I want to do" as my default setting when updates to FireFox are found.

Why has this behavior been changed this way? Please let the user choose when they want to upgrade rather than forcing it down our throats without our consent. I have been using FireFox for years. This is the first time I have seen such odd behavior. Thanks
