It takes a long time for the firefox pplication to open. Why?

When I open firefox it is supposed to open to my home page: Comcast.net.

It takes 20 t0 30 seconds for firefox to respond and open.

sometimes it does not open and I have to repair my wireless connection.

Frequently I lose the connection while I am browsing and I have to reconnect.
