Your announcement of 'Firefox 4' availability has flashed up, but, before I try to download it, does it work with Windows 2000 Professional please?.

I have 900Mgs of RAM, and a Pentium 3 Processor .

Thank you,
Richard Bartholomew

OS and Hardware requirements for Firefox 4: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/4.0/system-requirements/index.html

You need to update the following:

  • Shockwave Flash 10.2 r153
  1. Check your plugin versions on either of the following links':
  2. Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.
    • Download and SAVE to your Desktop so you can find the installer later
    • If you do not have the current version, click on the "Player Download Center" link on the "Download and information" or "Download Manual installers" below
    • After download is complete, exit Firefox
    • Click on the installer you just downloaded and install
      • Windows 7 and Vista: may need to right-click the installer and choose "Run as Administrator"
    • Start Firefox and check your version again or test the installation by going back to the download link below
    • Download and information: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
      • Use Firefox to go to the above site to update the Firefox plugin (will also install plugin for most other browsers; except IE)
      • Use IE to go to the above site to update the IE ActiveX
    • Download Manual installers.

According to adobe's website <http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/systemreqs/> windows 2000 is NOT supported for ver. 10.2 (well, it's noticeably absent from the list of windows' OS) Is there another adobe webpage that suggests 10.2 IS supported on win 2000? If flash 10.2 is "required" for FF4, then win 2000 users might be SOL. Thanks, tomZ

Many thanks for that. I will try top hang on to Win2000 for as long as I can as it does everything I need of it, however much Microsoft and support systems would like to 'sell' you often unecessary upgrades. I know it's free and am sure Version 10 must be 'wonderful' but simply not needed!
