I m trying to download Firefox 4 which needs to have Mozella closed, however when it starts to download it opens Mozella, so the download is stopped. How do I correct this?

No, you should be able to download the installation with your old version. Then close your old browser when it asks you to and continue with the installation.
I close it when it asks me yo, then I try to download again and it re-opens Mozella, so it will not download.
