why does Firefox 4 display overlayed double images?

Today I upgraded to Firefox 4. I get overlaid, double images from the tab bar upwards. When I remove a line such as toolbar, this clears up until I open the browser again. Putting the toolbar back puts the double images back. One thing for sure, totally removing Firefox 4 removes the headache. how do I go back to Firefox 3.6? John
