After installing FFv4beta, Xmarks stopped syncing with both v4 and v3.6 - is that a glitch with FF Sync?

I installed v4beta and, at first, was amazed at how well it worked; seemed the most stable new version I've seen in FF.

Then I started having problems with Xmarks syncing bookmarks from my other Firefox installs (Win 3.6 and Mac) and Safari (Mac - it doesn't seem to have Win Safari support).

Then my Bookmarks Toolbar simply went blank on FFv4 and FFv3 on my WinXP Pro virtual computer (running in Parallels on my iMac). All attempts to download from Xmarks (which is still working fine on the Mac side, in both FF and Safari) just gets an ambiguous "sync error" message.

I suspect there is some kind of conflict between Xmarks and FFv4's Sync, altho why that also knocked it off v3.6, where it had been working fine, is a mystery. What is not a mystery is, without Xmarks and the ability to share and update seamlessly across browsers and platforms, FFv4 will have to go. I just hope if I do remove it, v3.6 will resume syncing with Xmarks.

You're not using both Xmarks and Firefox Sync, are you?

As long as you haven't used Firefox Sync in Firefox 4.o, it shouldn't have any affect upon being able to use Xmarks.

No, just Xmarks. But since this is a beta, I thought there might be some "leakage" even if Sync is not deliberately engaged.

There's no interaction between Sync and Xmarks, other than them both reading from and writing to the same data sources. I'm afraid I have no idea why Xmarks might have stopped working.

Sync isn't hooked into Firefox's data sources until it's set up; if you see "Set up Sync" in your menu instead of "Sync Now", you can safely ignore it.
