How do I get rid of the black bar in Firefox? Even after removal and reinstallation of Firefox without keeping any user settings, it comes back!

It looks like a screwed up toolbar. It's just a solid black bar just above the page tabs. I've tried uninstalling Firefox completely, and re-installing without keeping user settings, but it keeps coming back. This is with the newest version for Windows XP (3.6.12).

Because I re-installed from scratch, there should be no plug-ins, tool bars, etc. Any ideas as to what might cause this?

Issues with a black (empty) toolbar can be caused by a plugin or an extension that is not compatible with Firefox 3.6 and isn't working properly anymore.

A toolbar like the "ZoneAlarm Spy Blocker Plugin Stub for 32-bit Windows" and other toolbars like "Ask.com" or "My Web Search" can cause this issue.
