unresponsive script when importing favorites from internet explorer

a warning comes up when importing my favorites from internet explorer with the option to stop script or to continue. Either choice crashes the firefox browser, becomes unresponsive and I have to go to task manager to "end task".

I have already tried starting a new session in firefox to import my favorites. I have made sure there are no other tabs open while trying to import my favorites as well.

Try doing it this way.

In IE: File > Import/Export - Export to HTML file

then in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... = From HTML file
