Why do I keep getting a recurring Firefox udate install failure message?

I keep having the recurring problem of the update install failing. Once this process starts it keeps cycling, basically taking over my computer, and I cannot quit it. I have to reboot my system. Then I have to use Internet Explore , go to the mozilla website and do a fresh download and install of firefox, and this finally gets rid of the problem... for a while. This has happened twice already. Any help would be appreciated.

Try resetting the software update feature by deleting the files and folders as shown on this site - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update
