I've been wanting to check to see if any of my plugins - specifically the one for my Slingbox - need to be updated. Every time I try, however, the Plugin Check page returns with the message "Plugin Finding Service Error We've encountered an error. Please try your request again later."

Is this just me, or is this a known system issue ?

I had the same problem and today I just tried to remove the sharp (#) at the end of my URL and it worked again. Its quite unlikely that this was the problem as I'm not able to reproduce it but you might want to give it a try anyway.
