Add a search engine to the Search Bar, choose from the following:

Change the URL/Location Bar search, change preference keyword.URL:
See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keyword.URL#Replacing_Google_with_other_search_engines_for_location_bar_search

  • Type about:config in URL bar, press Enter
  • On warning screen, clic "I'll be careful..."
  • Filter = keyword.URL
  • Right-click on keyword.URL, choose Modify
  • Change to your desired search provider
  • Restart Firefox
