How do I stop the flashing black bar that appears on my web pages, aside from refreshing the site?

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04, with Firefox canonical for Ubuntu 1.0. At times, when I click a link, a flashing black bar, or flashing black outline of a box appears, and only goes away when i refresh the page

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

AHAAA! It's "caret browsing" and the short answer is "hit F7". The long answer can be found here (i.e. how to stop caret browsing altogether in preferences):
