I live in Thailand - land of fakes - I recently had my comp. repaired - new motherboard. Now when I try to download something a message appears to say that my Internet Download Manager is registered with a fake number.

Hi Doug,

it seems to be the 'Internet Download Manager', which seems to be just that - a download manager (so at least not exactly malware). :-)

Opinions on its quality seems to be very widely spread, to put it mildly. One user has posted instructions on how to remove the Firefox add-on component completely in the review section on AMO, so I guess this can help you get rid of it: IDM CC add-on 'removal review' on addons.mozilla.org

I hope this fixes it for you. Please let us know how above works out, and if we can be of further assistance. Detailed feedback is appreciated and helps us to help you better, plus enables us to better help other users with similar issues.

Thank you AlleyKat for your assistance. I did not try to delete IDM it sounded too dangerous for an old computer illiterate guy like me to tackle. But I followed the instructions and disabled it in tools. So I can download things again now. However when I restarted my computer after disabling, the message was still there asking me to pay for their license.

Once again thank you.

Regards,

Doug.
