I sometimes can't close tabs.
Occasionally when I have multiple tabs open in firefox, I find myself unable to close individual tabs when I'm finished browsing the particular page. I click the X and nothing happens. It doesn't happen too often, but it's kind of annoying when it does.

Same thing, same version. Windows XP.
same proble, on mac osx 10.6...
There are probably conflicting addons. Try starting firefox in safe mode with no addons enabled. If that works then try re enabling your addons one at a time.
Same in 3.6.3 for Ubuntu :(
Same problem, Mozilla 3.6.6, Windows XP Pro. This is the first time it's happened.
Same here. :( It started a few weeks ago. Now it happens once a day/couple of days.
It's hard to do the check with the add ons because it happens sporadically.
Same problem, Firefox 4.0 beta 7, Archlinux. Happened twice. Can't close with button, Ctrl+W or "Group Tabs" screen. Annoying bug.
I just upgraded FF 3.6.18 and the only tab I remember not being able to close, maybe ever, is the "thanks for helping us to Beta test Firefox 3.6.18!" tab from (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.6.18/whatsnew/). If I duplicate the tab, the new tab acts properly and I can close it or move it to TooManyTabs, but not the original. I do have Firebug loaded. In a few days I'll have to go into it and see what's happening. Too busy now. I will try to keep the tab open until I go to debug it.
I have just experienced this within days of upgrading to Firefox 7 our customer service team feel that Firefux is shit and so slow, all want to go back to Google Chrome. Totally Agree, it's not as bad as Internet Explorer, but worse then Chrome.
Firefox still lacks the simple interface that a browser should have Its a window to the internet, the sites we go to have the features and functions spend more time on enhancing the rendering engine and making it read and render faster. We dont want 20 tool bars and all the other crap have a serious look at the firefox interface - it's awful
It has been reported a year ago and we still don't have a solution for this annoying problem?
WOW! Two year old issue and still happening. If someone from the Mozilla team reads this, please make there be a way to have people opt into an improvement program that will send periodic anonymous technical data to the Mozilla team so that things like this can be resolved. Make it so you can tell it what to look for too. This way we can wash all those hard to reach places... I mean bugs... from the system. =)
