Thunderbird Filters
I am having trouble with Thunderbird Filters and in trying to research it have located the log at
file:///C:/Users/ikm/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/snjgq08z.default-beta/Mail/Local%20Folders/Local%20Folders.sbd/filterlog.html
Despite the fact that the log has been enabled for some time, the log had not been updated since December 2023. I have emptied it to see what happens but am wondering if there is a bug in the 'enable log' connection.
Any comment, will be helpful.

Generally I see a few issues with filters;
- Filters do not execute because Thunderbird is busy with it's internal database. Rebuilding it sometime helps there. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/rebuilding-global-database
- The time between checking of mail has been set to something unrealistic like 2 minutes so the whole sequence of actions fails to complete with a first mail fetch before the next runs over the top of it preventing the filters ever actually getting out of the starting box.
- For IMAP accounts filters that rely on the body content of the email should only be executed after classification as a timing issue means that the body is frequently not downloaded when the filter executes.
I can not see any recent bugs related to filters, nor any discussion on the beta testing list.
Hi Matt
My problem is not that the filters don't work. They all do.
However, I have deleted the global-database as suggested and it has successfully rebuilt.
My problem is that the filters never record their activity in the filterlog.
That may be because the folder looks like that in the attached graphic. Are there too many iterations of the files?
I am past using the beta product.
What do you think? Should I clean up. It is only the top one that seems to be 'active'.
