Can't send e-mails on Thunderbird 115.8.0

Am in the UK. I am able to receive e-mails, but not able to send e-mails. All was well until relatively recently. The following message appears: Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.uwclub.net. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'.

I gave gone through all suggestions I can find online, (including the "Cannot send messages" support page here) but still no success.

Mail provider: uwclub.net ISP: BT Firewall: off (Mac) Antivirus: Avast Security Operating system: Mac OS Sonoma 14.2.1 Thunderbird 115.8.0

I can still send e-mails from my account using the mail provider webmail facility (but not through Thunderbird.
