Lost my Local Folders' contents - I always stored them in folders under Local Folders until I needed them.

I have used Thunderbird for YEARS and have loved it. All of a sudden I have lost all of what was in my Local Folders. I had several years worth of emails regarding taxes, bookkeeping matters, etc. and they are gone. Aren't Local Folders located on my laptop? Or are they located on a Thunderbird server somewhere? Can they be retrieved? Does "Local Folders" mean something else now?

Thanks for anyone's help!!

Please share more information. Yes, local folders are local to the PC. DId you lose any accounts, or just local folders. More info is always better. Thank you.
