Setting up rules for email - can't do
The rules box is larger than my screen and can't be adjusted so I cannot set up new rules.

I presume you are talking about Message Filters.
Try this first:
- Help > Troubleshoot mode
- Click on 'Restart'
- Select 'Reset toolbars and controls'
- click on 'Make changes and restart'
