I purchased a new computer and downloaded and installed Thunderbird using the instructions for installation for the att.net server. It seems to have downloaded all the mail from the "inbox" and is continuing to receive mail but none of the sub folders under the "Local Folders" were brought over. I've read this thread (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1363277) but can't seem to understand what it is I'm supposed to be looking for or do. The new PC has a 225 mb SSD on which all the programs are installed (drive C:) I searched for files containing "Thunderbird" and found several one of which is C:\Users\Dell\AppData\Roaming and another named C:\Users\Dell\AppData\Local. This happened when I had a new hard drive installed in my old computer but I can't seem to remember what I had to do to get everything back onto the new equipment.

Can someone help me to get these folders, and the mail they contain, back?

Thank you, Joe

I opened the "About Profiles" link on the "Troubleshooting Information" in Thunderbird. This is what it shows:

About Profiles This page helps you to manage your profiles. Each profile is a separate world which contains separate history, bookmarks, settings and add-ons. Restart Profile: default-release This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted. Default Profile yes Root Directory C:\Users\Dell\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ftywnrod.default-release Local Directory C:\Users\Dell\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\ftywnrod.default-release Profile: default Default Profile no Root Directory C:\Users\Dell\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\43w0wqaa.default Local Directory C:\Users\Dell\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\43w0wqaa.default

At the end of each Directory entry there is an "Open Folder" button and below the "Profile: default-release" profile there is a "Rename" button. Below the "Profile: default" profile there are "Rename", Remove", "Set as default profile" and "Launch profile" buttons.

Is there anything I need to do on this page to retrieve the Local Folder sub folders?

Joe

The profile information you listed above sounds fine.

On your old computer you need to find the directory <your profile>\Mail\Local Folders. Then copy "Local Folders" entire structure to C:\Users\Dell\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ftywnrod.default-release\Mail
