I am worried now.

I hope it is a glitch and not something serious.

Today I powered up and wanted to go to a site. (password saved in FF)

Nothing popping up.

Strange.

Go to the about:logins page. I get this: (See picture)

I can't log in.

Should I be worried?

Good news folks and sorry for posting so quickly.

(It is kind of "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" in this scenario.

Rebooted and all is good.

Thoughts: If I goofed when prompted for my password (per usual on start of FF) and I make a mistake would this happen?

If so: How would/could I force FF to ask me again for my password? All mine have a master password.

Canceling the PP prompt merely means that you lock the logins, so a website won't be able to auto-fill or show "Use Saved Login/Password" in the context menu. If you close and reopen about:logins then Firefox should prompt you again to enter the PP.

You can inspect the current login state to the Software Security Device in the Device Manager. There you can find "Log In" and "Log Out" and "Change Password" buttons in the sidebar at the right with Software Security Device selected.

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Certificates ->
Security Devices: Software Security Device: buttons in the right sidebar

You may have to zoom out to make the sidebar show properly.

Sorry, Cor-el, you lost me.

> the PP prompt

The screenshot I included was what I saw/got and I didn't see any prompt.

What threw me was it was asking me to enter my main password to view saved logins & passwords but I didn't see anywhere to enter it.

Pressing the `Log in` button did nothing.

Bug? (Shrug)

I created a few bricks when it happened and after a few failed attempts to log into other pages and/or get the main password requestor up again, I rebooted.

When I got to settings/privacy I couldn't see (for reasons unknown) the certificates bit you mentioned.

If it isn't asking too much, could you give me the idiot's guide to how to get there? Like maybe screen shots of the critical parts?

Thanks in advance.

The screenshot shows a bar at the top with a "Log in" button the enter the Primary Password (PP) if you click this button you should get a pop-up dialog to enter the PP. If that doesn't work then there might be a problem with unlocking the logins.

You can check the Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+B) for login related messages.

Ah, sorry. PP, Primary Password.

Yeah, ok.

Pressing the button shown in the screen shot simply reloaded that page.

Anyway, as I said in the second post: I rebooted and it is now working fine.
