I'm sure many here have by now received Google's little advisory about inactive gmail accounts. I figured I have better luck getting some answers here than jumping thru firey hoops trying to get an answer out of Google. But of course if it turns out that I have to, I will throw a short tantrum, then unwilling crawl over there.

I have three gmail accounts, ALL of which I pop to Thunderbird. I rarely log in to any of them in a browser. About the only time I log in on a browser is to see if an expected email went into the spam folder there.

One of the ways mentioned in the email that will keep an account active: "Using Sign in with Google to sign in to a third-party app or service"

Does this include Thunderbird? Is Thunderbird considered a "third-party app or service?" Or does that only apply to places that have an actual button or link that allows you to log in using Google?

Thanks in advance for any information.

The key term with Google is 'inactive.' Thunderbird is considered a third-party app and you are keeping the account active by using it.
