< jbuck1037@aol.com> <jbuck406@gmail.com> I would really like to hear from you before I send this message to 100's of contacts on "FaceBook". I use "Mozilla Thunderbird" for my email client - and the "junk" filter has always worked just fine. I use "Mozilla Thunderbird" to pull up and read three different mail accounts on my "Windows 7" computer screen. Then I noticed when ever I open my @aol.com account I get all this "Junk" mail trying to sell me guns and self defense items - and when I try to use my "Junk" filter on this AOL account - I see that AOL has changed something and shut my filter ability in Thunderbird down or off because they want me to pay them $10 a month for "Filter" protection. My "Mozilla Thunderbird" has been Hijacked by AOL. Can you do anything about this ?? Jack Holt - 1037 Buck Hollow Dr. - Crosby TX 77532

I really do not understand your question. AOL is now Yahoo. But Thunderbird works with the IMAP protocol definitions of spam and as a result no longer fights with the Yahoo bulk mail filtering like it did years ago.

Fundamentally Thunderbird's junk filter is independent of the IMAP server and certainly not controlled by it. Hence my failure to understand the question. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-junk-spam-messages and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Junk_Mail_Controls for information on how the junk filtering works and can be configured.

Just to clarify. Mozilla are not involved in making Thunderbird. Thunderbird is a community project funded by user donations. See https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/about/
