Since getting the Thunderbird 102 update my wife, who acts for a charity is unable to send out group emails. She uses the sidebar to access each group, but there is no "write" icon, in the address section, no way to customise the sidebar to include "write" and even if she highlights the group, there is no way to click and bring up "write". She has tried to copy and paste, but red warning signs come up against the names of recipients (but not the email addresses). She has tried the shortcut for "write". No luck. The only way that works, is to drag and drop each name in the group, to the send section. She also entered the name of the group in the recipient area and that worked, but only once. She has used Thunderbird for at least 20 years, but she has spent hours trying to find a solution. We have re-downloaded Thunderbird, tried the repair option. What's going on here please? Your help would be very much appreciated.

Maybe I'm confused on her work flow. I do the following: - click 'write' from main screen - locate group in side bar - highlight and click to copy group name to TO entry - compose and send

What steps is she doing? thanks.

David. Thank you so much. She started with bringing up the address book, highlighting the group, then going back and clicking on the "write" button to bring up the "write" field, going back to the group then copying and pasting the group into the TO entry. Really the opposite of what you suggested. Same idea but the wrong way round. You've solved the problem, my wife is smiling.

I have the same problem, but this solution doesn't work. I maintain a Google address book for compatibility across different devices (for example I use the Aquamail app on my phone). I have installed the Cardbook add-on to Thunderbird. Until V102 I was able to enter the name of the group in the To box. After the first couple of letters Thunderbird displayed all the groups that match and I could select the required group from the look up. Thunderbird would then insert all the email addresses in that group.

V102 displays the groups as before but if I select one it shows it in red with the error message xxx is not a valid email address
