I am trying to create a subfolder in one of my existing email subfolders; whatever name I try to give it, it doesn't work. If I name the subfolder "test" it works. If I try to then rename the subfolder to the name I want to give it ("accelerator program"), it gives an error message that it cannot be renamed ... I find this all very weird. I have many folders and sub folders already to organize my mails, and this has worked for many years and now it suddenly doesn't work to make a new one ... any suggestions ? Is there a limit on the total number of (sub) folders one can create in Thunderbird ? Many thanks for your suggestions or advice.

re :If I name the subfolder "test" it works. If I try to then rename the subfolder to the name I want to give it ("accelerator program"), it gives an error message that it cannot be renamed

Perhaps this is to do with the length of the overall path directory which ends with the filename. 'test' being 4 digits is within the max path name, but 'accelerator program' being 19 exceeds it. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/fileio/naming-a-file

Is there a limit on number of characters you can use for folder name in webmail account? I'm assuming you are using an IMAP account - If you logon to webmail account, are you able to create a sub folder called 'Accelerator Program' - if yes, then try to subscribe to see it in Thunderbird imap account.

Is this an imap mail account folder or a pop account folder or a 'Local Folders' mail account folder ? You say 'sub-folder' but is it a subfolder to a top level folder or sub of a sub etc.

I have this problem too – in a similar way: Thunderbird 91.9.1 (64-Bit) on MacOS 11.6.5 I cannot create another subfolder (even named 'Test' would not be accepted) just only the creation dialog would open correctly but no subfolder will be created at all.

Thank you for any support Chris
