Recently telus.net has partnered with google. I do not like the way my folders show in thunderbird now. I am unable to delete the gmail folders such as starred folders. Is there a way to do this. Also in the past when i had the old telus email i could get the email from online and once thunderbird received them they were out of the online telus email account. With this google account it stays in the gmail online account. I dont like that it is still so connected. I never had this issue in the past. Is this just a google control thing? Is there a way i can just get my emails to thunderbird and they come off of online account? I hope this makes sense how i am explaining this. I may have to change my email account all together and get out of google. Or is this how thunderbird works. The emails are not really offline (so to speak).

It looks like the account is set up as IMAP, where TB syncs with the mail server. This is the preferred option if you access mail from multiple computers or devices, such as phones or tablets. If you want mail removed from the mail server after it's downloaded to TB, and don't access the account on other devices, you probably want to set up the account as POP in TB. POP also downloads just the Inbox, not the sent folder or any other folders.

Copy any messages you wish to keep in the current setup to subfolders of Local Folders, then remove the IMAP account, from Account Actions in Tools/Account Settings, then add the account as a POP account (Account Actions, Add Mail Account) with pop.gmail.com on 995, SSL/TLS, OAuth2 authentication, User Name = email address.
