Since upgrading to 91.4.x the button to show images is missing, and I am unable to locate any setting/preference options to turn it back on. All assistance to restore this functionality appreciated!

Thanks

The button to show the options for remote images is only visible if View/Message Body As is Original HTML.

Check also that permissions.default.image is 1 in Preferences/General/Indexing, Config. editor.

View/Message Body As = Original HTML permissions.default.image = 1

No joy. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing as well. Still no option to see remote images in message.

Are the images visible when the messages are viewed in webmail? If not, they might be blocked by the mail provider before they reach TB.

I had this same issue using 91.7.0. No (remote) images are visible in email messages. They are replaced with either a box with a broken image icon or text such as "Display images to show real-time content."

OTOH images are visible in the same messages when viewed in webmail; they are also visible when using an email app on an Android tablet.

I have set View > Message Body as > Original HTML Tools > Preferences - Mail Content [unchecked] Allow remote content in messages

This results in the yellow message: To protect your privacy, Thunderbird has blocked remote content in this message.

There is an options button with a pull-down menu with choices such as

  • Show remote content in this message
  • Allow remote content from (various URL's)
  • Allow remote from all (n) origins listed above
  • Allow remote content from (email address that sent the message)

However none of these choices have any immediate effect whatsoever.

Check the Mail/Content, Exceptions, for any blocked sites. Is there any security/antivirus/antispam app that is possibly blocking remote images?
