Usually put up with things not right for a while, them make an effort and find a solution. Unfortunately my finding a solution step is not working. Started with and update months ago. Found out that our new computer that we got over a year ago that was handling Thunderbird just fine, had a partition in the hard drive that put the bulk of the storage space in another drive. When I updated to the new version of Thunderbird, there apparently wasn't enough memory for all the emails I have been saving, so I lost many of the more recent sent folder and other issues started. For quite some time TB kept trying to download messages from the server and showing that something was in progress bar. The latest thing has been difficulty sending attachments that I never had before. Takes a long time then a message stating the email has been sent but failed to copy to the sent folder. The lets me try again... then it appears to show two of the same sent emails. I tried saving my profile, deleting things on the server I wanted to keep, not sure if my address book is on my profile I saved, doesn't appear to have the file extension for the address book in the profile anywhere. I can actually live with the address book thing because I just use my sent emails for some of the bulk emails I send out (glad they weren't in the sents that I lost. Besides, my address book was messed up making multiple additions to the email address so the name and the email would have the name more than once and mess up the email address.

All that sounds like you have an anti virus problem. Poor network connectivity on ports not used for web browsing, slow download etc.

Note that address books are now SQLITE files. That is a relational database format which might be why you can't find them.

Do you do better if you restart the operating system in safe mode with networking? Instructions from Microsoft to doing there are here

All was fine until I did the Thunderbird update.

Today I tried turning off antivirus for a quick test, also tried safe mode as you suggested, still takes a lot more time to do things. Never used to get "copying to sent folder" notification that takes as much time as sending images. Appreciate the SQLITE comment, just don't want to take the time right now to figure my way through that. Just got off the phone with my service provider and they suggested that I just use their email access, which does everything fast, so if I can't get through this issue with Thunderbird, I may just stop using it. Thank you very much for comments, still would like to keep TB, my wife is use to it.
