A couple of weeks ago I received a notice from Firefox that my address had been "pawned" or something back in October. Since receiving the notice my Spam and Junk intake has multiplied 5-fold. Is there any link? The amount between October and the notice was not high.

Hello,

Firefox noted that you were pwned. This means that one of the accounts set up for your email address was involved in a data breach. A data breach is an event where a company's databases are leaked. These leaks can include usernames, (hopefully hashed and salted) passwords, email addresses, payment information, and more. You are most likely receiving more spam because your email address was exposed.

Please check your accounts on Firefox Monitor for any breaches. Check the exposure for details of what information was made available.

Always change your password for the service when you receive these messages, as it may be available. Consider changing your passwords on all platforms, especially if you use the same password for everything. I suggest a password manager, like bitwarden or lastpass. You may also find more benefit in a password generator, like lesspass, as it does not store any information.
