I have read numerous post from the owner of the post and the reply. So, if print preview gives someone a false sense of security then was the purpose of print preview to begin with. Also sometimes I hit print and the page that allows me to print is blank. The last think is that with the update I lost the Thunderbird logo...it is a white rectangle and says Thunderbird under it. Thank you for your help.

If you don't wish to see the preview, the system print dialog can be set as the default:

TB uses the printer shown in the print_printer preference in Preferences/General/Indexing/Config. editor, and this entry can be edited. The default selection is the system default printer.

See if rebuilding the icon cache restores the TB logo.
