I'm helping an old man with his computer. He is starting to develop dementia, but I want to help him as much as possible...

He want his email to be sorted by date so the newest email is at the top, but sometimes when he click on the top email he accidently click on the header, and all emails will be sorted according to that header, and then he is not able to understand that he has to click on the date header to got th emails to be sorted by date again..

Is there a trick to restore the settings every time he start Thunderbird so the emails are sorted by the date every time he start thunderbird?

Sorry for my bad english, hope you understand what i ask?
