thunderbird continues to randomly delete emails
Hi,
I posted about this several weeks ago, along with several other users. No responses that I know of, unfortunately. I use thunderbird to check 4 different addresses with unified inbox enabled, and the gmail pop inbox keeps losing all it's messages. Once every day or so, the 11 or so messages in there disappear. I have exported them so can drag and drop them back in, but it's getting very frustrating. Today, the same thing appeared to happen with the trash mailbox of one of my other accounts.
I love TBird, but this is a deal-breaker, unfortunately.

Chosen solution
To start, change the authentication on the incoming and outgoing gmail servers to OAuth2, remove the passwords from Saved Passwords in Options, check that cookies are accepted in the TB Privacy & Security Options, restart TB, enter the account password in the OAuth window when asked. Disable the VPN if you have one. Then, see if the accounts work properly.

Maybe no propper response was given because your question isnt suitable, unfortunately rustyconc
I will try rephrasing.

And the original summary of the problem:
I have TB setup to check 4 emails, all via POP. One inbox keeps erratically purging all old emails. Everything seems fine for a bit (a day or two) - checking, sending, etc. and then apparently at random the emails disappear. Sometimes using the "Repair Folder" retrieves them, but three times so far it doesn't - the problem is not in the msf index file, but the actual message file. I was able to restore from backup and then I simply exported the key emails (just 10 of them, fortunately) and can now import them whenever it happens so no critical losss, but annoying. My impression is the problems seem to arise when clicking on that account's inbox and then clicking on the Unified Folders Inbox (or vice versa).
Latest update: the problem continues to be specific to one of my 4 inboxes. Today I deleted the offending account, and then made a new account to check that same (gmail) account. Account settings screenshot attached. Within a couple hours, two new emails that were received and also the 10 restored emails all disappeared. They are not in the Trash, while another test email sent to that account that I immediately deleted is in the Trash. Account settings screenshot attached.
Modified
hmm, dont know if this helps you, but making making a rule to redirect emails to maybe different accounts may solve it.

Thanks @sfhowes - so far so good.
