Drag and drop URL to bookmark bar

I used to be able to grab a URL at the lock link and drag it to the bookmark bar and then place it anywhere in the bar. But now a bookmark is automatically dropped at the end of the bookmark bar (which in my cases is well beyond the screen bar).
