I used Thunderbird for years. In Sept 2020, I had an issue with an AT&T account. I could not get it to work again. In needed to remove the account. Now I find myself trying to get information on an email that was sent earlier in 2020. Is there any way to retrieve those original emails? In a back up or some other way?

Help/Troubleshooting, Profile Folder, Open Folder, close TB, look in the account subfolder of Mail if it's a POP account, e.g. Mail/inbound.att.net, or e.g. ImapMail/imap.mail.att.net if it's an IMAP account, find the Sent mbox file, which is a large file with no extension. Copy the Sent mbox file into Mail/Local Folders, restart TB, and find the folder under Local Folders in the Folder Pane.

Note that AT&T accounts require a secure mail key in place of the account password in TB.
