Thunderbird starts to load and then hangs.

For a couple of weeks Tbird has been acting strangely: - all past and completed tasks would show up as uncompleted, going back several years - my calendar would be empty - but email would still work.

For the last five days, when Tbird starts, I get a message "Building Summary file for inbox". The progress bar never completes, and then I get a message that Thunderbird is not responding.

I have done some research and tried the following with no improvement: - Rebooted pc in safe mode with networking. Tried to start Tbird. Problem remained - Booted pc normally and turned off McAfee software. Tried to start Tbird. Problem remained.

Note: I cannot check which version of Tbird I am running, but I believe I have the most recent version as I always update when notified that a new version is available.
