I have recently been having the following issue when using thunder bird only.

"An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1 Message rejected due to possible spam content. Please check the message and try again."

When using my email hosts program mail goes through.

Only happens with Thunderbird.

Ideas?

Password is correct, all up to date, works with other programs, no attachments added, account is secure, pc is secure.

Thanks

Have you asked your mail provider (whose SMTP server is sending the message) why they think your mail is spam?

Some common issues are;

  • Misconfigured mail server at provider (more common than it should be)
  • Signature files generated in Microsoft office being used
  • Images (especially social media ones) that have been used in the past by spammers.
  • Emails that have a very low image to text ratio (often considered to be image spam)
  • Email subjects with common spammy words and phrases like "special offer". The following link is to a site where they are selling stuff, and I do not recommend it in any way. I know nothing of their product. But the information about spammy words and phrases is informative.
