My problem has changed. My question is on here but I can't find from early yesterday. When I logged on about 8 am yesterday Thunderbird started some activity which I thought was update. After some minutes I realized it was "loading" it. I had done nothing but start the computer from a cold shut down earlier. I am talking about 3 am until 8 am approximately. When it stopped "working" it stopped on the Privacy setting page. Couldn't see how to get it off so ignored it because I had a bigger problem. Here let me say that for about a week I have been expecting an answer to 2 important emails that I have not gotten. It is a very sensitive answer so I don't want to call & say did you get these emails. Now I can't find them in any folder in Thunderbird.

The other major problem: I was chosen to participate in this college election poll re Facebook. I loaded their software and did the first. Then chosen for the second and loaded their second software and completed their different kind of poll -- with more to follow. I wrote them an email with a question about the second poll and they responded but mentioned that I had not loaded the second software on my computer yet. Well, I knew I had because I had taken the poll. It doesn't really matter about the poll but it does matter about things missing. So I start looking for the download when that is unsuccessful, I start back on Thunderbird by examining every folder.

You need to understand that I am in NO way a techie. I am also incredibly busy this week and for the next two so I have not been able to spend as much time as I would like on this. Busy means 14 to 16 hour days and for this 80 year old woman that is busy.

On the left panel of Thunderbird I discovered I have at Level 1 my 3 email addresses and the usual folders AND at Level 1 something called "Instructional" with a picture of a computer in front of it and an Inbox at Level 2 under it. Plus all kinds of folders under that which are ones I did create. In this Inbox are emails addressed to the email address of the one physically above it -- not all in either inbox and apparently in no particular order.

I read a page that was referenced in Help and it was VERY long and very techie. If that is going to be the answer for me to try. Just tell me someone to pay to fix it and what to tell them is wrong. NO WAY on earth can I do it nor do I want to try. My 80 year old retired teacher brain doesn't want to go there

I tried to take a screen shot using the instructions on the Mozilla Introduction page to this community. However they do not work if that shot needs to be of the Thunderbird Panel. It has to have the Screen Shot Button on the page. Thunderbird does not that I could find.

Now I have to go put on my other hat. I will check back as soon as possible.

Be kind. Remember I am 80 years old and I put up with high school kids for 45 years.

A screenshot you can do with the operating system pre-installed software, save the picture somewhere (desktop/my pictures?) and add it here If you have windows 10 then these articles might help: https://support.microsoft.com/help/13776/windows-10-use-snipping-tool-to-capture-screenshots https://support.microsoft.com/help/4488540/windows-10-how-to-take-and-annotate-screenshots

A picture can value more than 100 words... and it might help us to understand what is happening and where we can help.

I am guessing it was updating. Mine took a long time and then messed up. That does not necessarily mean yours has, my profile is far from normal what is comes to updates.

But all you are talking about is a tab that shows the privacy agreement that has changed. It will be the second or latter tab shown on the tab bar. Clicking on the first tab bar entry should just take you back to the familiar list of accounts.

As for this "instructional" I have no idea, but if you right click the folder and select properties it will tell you some things about the source of the folder, be it a saved search or if it is a sub folder of an account is may give a location starting with mailbox: that will provide information as to which account is belongs to.

As for screen shots buttons. Mozilla chose to do that with Firefox, because there are many people who do not know of the options available in their operating system. Thunderbird really is a more complex program, so we kind of expect folks to use the operating system options, of which there a number in windows 10.

See this recent article for some of the many. https://au.pcmag.com/how-to/63419/how-to-take-screenshots-in-windows-10 I just learned about sketch and snip (windows key+Shift+S) that lets me highlight a window. That is faster that what I have been doing using the print screen button on the keyboard. Took me a couple of tries to get it, but I think I like it.

Now reading between the lines I would guess your account with your mail provider is configured as POP if you have had in in Thunderbird for more than a few years. If that is the case we often see mail redirected to an online spam folder by mail providers and not delivered by normal POP, even though it is meant to deliver everything that is receive into the account. Some providers choose not to do that. Yahoo I think is one and by extension AOL and ATT among others. So if you are not getting expected email try logging into your providers web mail and checking the folders shown there. With particular regard to SPAM. But general look around and see if you have missed anything else because you still use POP.
