Has the "reading mode* button been removed on purpose in the latest Firefox Beta for Android build ?

I use it extensively.

Could it be added back please, or at least made as a configuration option please?

No, it hasn't been removed. Perhaps the logic behind showing this button is slightly different, it doesn't show up under every article.
