Many times an e mail will go to the junk folder. Where in God’s name is the junk folder?

Are you using a POP or IMAP mail account ?

If IMAP, then you would be using the server junk/spam folder which will be called 'Spam' or similar. As this is a default server folder it should have been automatically subscribed to be seen. Do you see a 'Spam' or 'Spam Mail' or 'Bulk Mail' folder? If no, then try to subscribe to see it.

  • Right click on imap mail account name folder in Folder Pane and select 'Subscribe'
  • Select the server 'Spam' folder
  • click on Subscribe'
  • Click on 'OK'

If POP, does it have it's own mail account and set of folders OR have you set it up as a deferred account commonly known as Global Inbox, in which case you do not see the pop mail account, you only see Local Folders mail account which receives the pop incoming etc mail? Pop accounts do use a 'Junk' folder and it should have auto created.

What is set up in the pop/imap account Junk controls ? Right click on account name folder in Folder Pane and select 'Settings' See image below as a guide.

  • select: enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account
  • select address books which you want to use as a whitelist
  • Select 'Move new junk messages to:

If pop using own folders:

  • Select 'Junk folder on: and select pop mail account name

If pop using 'Local Folders mail account (Global Inbox):

  • Select 'Other' and select 'Junk on Local Folders'

If imap:

  • Select: Other and choose the subscribed folder which may be called 'Spam' or 'Spam Mail' or 'Bulk Mail' on the imap account.
  • click on 'OK

Check global settings: If version 68* or earlier

  • Menu icon > Options > Options > Security > 'Junk' tab
  • Select 'When I mark messages as junk
  • Select 'Move them to the accounts 'Junk' folder

You can select to mark as read and enable the logging if you desire it.

If version 78* or later

  • Menu icon > Options > Privacy &Security

Scroll down to 'Junk' section

  • Select 'When I mark messages as junk
  • Select 'Move them to the accounts 'Junk' folder

You can select to mark as read and enable the logging if you desire it.

Please report back with info so we understand your set up.
