HI, My Thunderbird has recently auto-updated to V78.2.1 & there appear to be some major issue with it as follows:

Previously when clicking the mouse on a any line in any pane, that line would be highlighted so you would know what you are looking at when the mouse is moved. This no longer happens!

When new emails arrive into the email list pane the details are all invisible bar a small yellow star to the left until clicked on which then makes the text appear!

Backgrounds when replying to, forwarding or writing new mails are black!! Why on earth is this happening??

All of these issues are highly annoying & definitely NOT an improvement!

Is there any way of solving these & if not can I revert back to a previous version?

Thanks in advance for any advice. Regards

TB 78 seems to have a few glitches with themes in general, and dark themes in particular. You may find it takes some tweaking to get the interface and message displays correct. Or, just stick with the default or Light themes.

If you were auto-updated to 78, it was not prompted by TB, but another app that 'manages' software updates. You can try installing an earlier version and launching it from the command line by Windowskey+R and typing

thunderbird.exe -p --allow-downgrade

or you can try to repair the 78 setup. First, start in safe mode (hold Shift when you launch) and see if your problems with display remain.

Thanks for the reply. I've actually just had a bit more of a look around in settings & toggled the themes a couple of times & that seems to have got it back to as it was previously. Not sure how exactly it might have changed as it's certainly not something I would have done as I never go into settings. I suspect it could be that the theme (Dark Fox) is set to auto-update by default. I wonder is it better to turn that off, or safer to leave to update for security reasons?
