A pc was crashed because de CPU was overheated en damaged. I put the HD out of the crashed pc and did the following: I moved 2 maps called Thunderbird from the old HD to an other PC in the maps user\appdata\local and user\appdata\roaming The i installed Thunderbird en started it. I got the the right profile and everything looks ok. But i can't see any mails in the inbox, outbox or elswhere. The profile is about 1Gb. So, where are the mails?

Thanks in advance, Jan Lamers

First, it's not necessary to copy the Thunderbird folder in AppData\Local, as it only contains caches and non-essential data.

If the crashed computer used TB 68, and the new TB install was 78, it sometimes happens that messages in the copied profile are blank. First thing to try is to open the profile folder, close TB, delete xulstore.json, then restart TB and see if the messages appear.

Sorry, the remove of the file xulstore.json did not solve the problem.

Try deleting the Thunderbird folder in AppData\Local, whichh will be recreated automatically, and the .msf files in the account subfolders of Mail or ImapMail.

again sorry, deleted all the .msf files in the account subfolder Mail. Problem is still not solved.

Create a new profile from Help/Troubleshooting, about:profiles, add your accounts, close TB, open the profile folder, copy the mbox files in the Mail and ImapMail subfolders - the ones with no extensions and named after folders - from the old profile to the Mail\Local Folders location in the new profile. Copy the abook.sqlite and history.sqlite files from the old to the new profile.

Sorry, this did not solve the problem.either. I will stop now and going to try another solution. I'm going to install the saved HD from the crashed PC in an old pc and see if this will work. Thanks for trying anyway.

Another method to try is to just delete the contents of the current profile folder (not the folder itself), and copy in the contents of the old profile folder. If that doesn't work, it indicates the profile was irreversibly corrupted when the computer crashed.
