when I click on the new address bar, nothing happens. I can still delete text with the backspace key, but I can't see what I'm typing or if text is selected or unselected. I've been using firefox for about 9 years and this is the first time I can't even use firefox.

Is this about using Firefox from the Mozilla server or with Firefox from the Linux repositories ?

Does the text appear if you select all text with a triple click (i.e. is there a problem with the text color) ?

All what the 'new' location bar is supposed to do is to expand a little in height and this shouldn't have other effects.

Are you possibly using code in userChrome.css that could cause this ?
