I used to be able to double click on an image in an email and it would bring up the edit window to allow me to change the size and appearance. This seems to have stopped working. In fact it does not recognize the image at all. Even clicking once no longer selects the image to drag and resize. Any ideas why this is happening?

You can only do it if you are viewing the inserted image in a 'Write' composing email window.

So, if you have saved as draft and are now viewing the draft in the Message Pane, then you cannot use the method you mention.

I beg to differ. This is happening in a new email and not in the draft window. I used to be able to double click and this box would pop up. Now I do not even see the "hand" when I move over it, just the "|" symbol indicating it is text. I get the edit box when I first use the add an image but if I go out of it then try to get back by double clicking, I cannot.

Please restart Thunderbird in Safe mode and test to see if in a Write window you can double click to access an already inserted image.

  • Help > Troublshooting Information
  • click on the 'Restart with addons disabled' button
  • A small window opens click on 'Continue in Safe Mode'
