Using latest T'bird; loosing emails from specific sender, other senders are handled properly. Occasionally find them in 'All Email', but not consistently. No filters or rules running. Any thoughts?

Probably going to SPAM, as that is the only folder Gmail routinely deletes the contents of.

All mail is a gmail construct that holds all mail in all folders, that the email is there and know where else indicates it may be in an unsubscribed folder. Right click the account in the folder pane, select subscribe from the list and then select any unselected folders shown.

Right click the spam/spam and trash/deleted folders and in properties make sure they are set to synchronize when getting mail. Thunderbird does not synchronize spam unless you tell it to.
