I installed Thunderbird 1:60:9.0.1 (armhf) on Debian Linux 9 (stretch) using the synaptic package manager. A link in the launcher menu appears but has no effect. Calling Thunderbird from the terminal window results in:

alex@Debian-Desktop:~$ thunderbird ExceptionHandler::GenerateDump cloned child 4951 ExceptionHandler::SendContinueSignalToChild sent continue signal to child ExceptionHandler::WaitForContinueSignal waiting for continue signal... alex@Debian-Desktop:~$ Exception ignored in: <_io.TextIOWrapper name='<stdout>' mode='w' encoding='UTF-8'> BrokenPipeError: [Errno 32] Broken pipe

De-installing and re-installing with package manager or manually did not solve the problem. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem ?
