I used to use MozBackup, but it's now discontinued.

There are backup tools in the ImportExportTools NG add-on. But if you backup the Thunderbird folder manually, that will include all essential data. Help/Troubleshooting, click Open Folder to open the profile folder, which is in the Profiles folder, which is in the Thunderbird folder.

I don't understand what you mean when you say to "backup the Thunderbird folder manually". My Thunderbird folder is full of actually dll files, fonts, and undelete tools. This doesn't sound like anything useful as a backup. Perhaps there's another "Thunderbird folder"? Or a Thunderbird folder by another name? There is no "Profiles" folder in my Thunderbird folder.

It is not in the Thunderbird 'Program' folder, but in the Thunderbird 'Appdata' folder. Follow the advice above, and you will be taken to the correct folder.

i.e Click 'Help/Trubleshooting', then alongside 'Profiles', there is a link 'about:profiles'. Click this link!
