I have moved my contacts to TB. I have two address sub lists. I want to add certain contacts to each list. All worked fine except one contact won't add to either sub list. Can't figure out why. Moved 20 contacts to one list and 3 to other list just fine. All looks okay in the contacts info that won't move. This is on a Windows 10 pc.

Chosen solution

Does the contact - who will not go into any Mailing List: 1. share same email address as another contact. eg: Some husband and wives may have differnt name but share same email address. If yes, please read this:

2. does not have an email address entereed - eg: you keep contact details for a non emailing purpose? If yes, mailing lists are designed to be used for bulk mailing and therefore all contacts in a mailing list must have a valid email address otherwise you cannot add to a mailing list.

Please note for clarification. Thunderbird has address books, eg: Personal Address Book. You can create and add other 'address books'. When you create a 'sub list' to an address book, that is called a 'Mailing List'. The contact remains in the associated address book, but it is like setting a label or tag, so that it also displays in the relevant 'Mailing List'. So removal from a 'Mailing List' does not remove from address book, but removal from address book will remove from mailing list.

The 'All Address Books' is not an address book itself, but like a virtual view type of search showing all contacts in all address books.

You can export any 'address book' or 'Mailing List' and save in various formats. However, when importing back a 'Mailing List', it can only be imported back as an address book, not a sub list/mailing list.
